Anisocoria - Diagnosis And Treatment

It is a condition in which the eyes pupil area of different size. Having Pupil of different sizes are normal and it is not a serious condition but sometimes it can be an indicator of serious eye problem. People may get this condition if they have damage history to the eye, stroke risk, viral infection, nervous problem and Adie's tonic pupil.

At first people don't realize that their pupils are different. If it develops from an eye problem one can notice symptoms related with that problem. Some of them are eye pain, headache, fever, reduced sweating and drooping eyelids. Consult your doctor immediately if you have any of these symptoms.

Diagnosis and Treatment

To diagnose this, ophthalmologists examine pupils in both dark and lighted room. The pupil’s response to light is noted and the abnormal Pupil is identified. Slit lamp microscope is also used to diagnose this condition. It is used to examine the eye in detail, making easier to spot problems.

However anisocoria do not need any treatment as it does not affect eye or eyesight. But if there is any eye problem it needs to be treated immediately.
