Antibiotic Eye Drops

Eye infection such as tearing, redness and discharge of liquid such as yellow or green pus is contagious. They are mostly treated with antibiotic eye drops.
They are prescribed by doctors to treat bacterial infections in eye. They kill the bacteria present in eyes which are responsible for the infection. The most common bacterial eye infection is bacterial conjunctivitis. This is commonly transferred among children while playing or in school. Wearing contaminated contact lenses and sleeping with contact lenses bacterial infections.
These antibiotic eye drops are specially designed to kill bacteria and do not show any reaction to other forms of eye infection. They are ineffective on conjunctivitis caused by virus. They also do not relieve eye allergies which are caused by pets, dust or pollen. They also do not relieve the eyes from fungal infections like fungal keratitis, caused by wearing contaminated lenses.
Consult doctor if you have symptoms like redness swollen eyes, pain, sensitivity to light, watery eyes etc. always follow the instructions given by your doctor before using eye drop. Usually the eyes become normal after 3 days, if not consult your doctor immediately.
