​Eyelid Spasm and Twitching

Eyelid spasms:

This is a condition where one or both the eyelids close suddenly or twitch. This movement cannot be controlled and is involuntary. Some of the common types of eye spasm are essential blepharospasm, hemifacial spasm and eyelid twitch.

Eyelid twitch:

When your eyes move a little quickly, the condition is known as eyelid twitching and it does not affect our vision. They occur commonly because of tiredness and stress. Most of the twitches are common and treatment is not needed. To get relief from eyelid twitching on can sleep enough, reduce stress and limit the consumption of caffeine.

Essential blepharospasm:

When the eyes close involuntarily, it is known as essential blepharospasm and can last from seconds to hours. When it gets initiated we wink, blink or pinch up our face. The eyes shut tightly and we cannot see, if this condition has reached its advanced stage. This can affect others muscles present in our face and there is difficulty in doing our day to day works. It is said that, it is caused by a nerve impulse.

Hemifacial spasm:

This condition occurs when muscles on one side of the face gets tightened up. This condition also affects other parts of the face as well and it can last for several days to months. This happens when a blood vessel is pressing a facial nerve.
