If you sit on computer for a long time and spend much time watching TV or playing video games, we may notice our eyes getting blurred. This condition is mainly because of Computer Vision Syndrome. It is one of the vision related issues which strikes a person when he sits on the screen for a long time. Though it is not permanent, there are some ways that one can do to prevent it.
In recent times, everyone is aware that computers have dominated most people in this world. It is estimated that in 2011, nearly 76% of household have computer in their homes while in 1984 there were only 8 percent in US according to the Census Bureau. Human beings cannot sit on computer for a long time because it puts excessive stress on the visual system. The size of letters on the screen, the level of contrast and the glass reflections make a person’s viewing difficult, sitting posture, amount of lighting and the viewing distance also worsens the situation.
How to know if a person is having CVS?
There are some symptoms to look and suspect for CVS. They are headache, fatigue, eye strain, distance and near vision getting blurred, irritating or dry eyes, back ache and diplopia. The eye doctor with the help of some tests can determine this problem. He is also able to determine uncorrected vision problem which are also caused due to Computer Vision Syndrome.
One cannot avoid computers and TV screens completely in this world but can limit its usage to some extent. Here are some of the ways:
The screen must be away and must be below the eye level. One must sit straight and the feet must touch the floor. Rest the eyes for 15 minutes, if you are working for more than 2 hours.
